[00:00.13]You might be really surprised
[00:01.66]As soon as I heard it, I knew it was a hit
[00:03.54]We definitely needed a song like this
[00:07.88]I'm quite excited about it
[00:19.97]We haven't talked much about song camps
[00:23.40]3RACHA went to the Global Citizen event
[00:27.03]and had the incredible honor
[00:28.97]to work with Charlie Puth at a song camp
[00:32.60]We used to do song camps often
[00:34.33]but it was a long time since the last one
[00:35.77]This time, we went to the US
[00:38.67]and had the great opportunity to work with Charlie Puth
[00:43.47]Being the most fluent in English among us in 3RACHA
[00:48.53]I tend to immediately discuss
[00:50.57]both my ideas and the others' ideas
[00:52.70]I also relay these ideas to the members separately
[00:55.17]and fine-tune them as we go along
[00:59.80]I feel like I've learned so much from attending Charlie Puth's song camp
[01:05.03]I've always enjoyed Charlie Puth's music
[01:08.33]It was an honor to work with him
[01:09.87]given how much I admire his work
[01:11.80]Charlie is often seen as a genius
[01:15.67]and when you work with him, you realize he truly is that and more
[01:18.83]Honestly, I put
[01:20.50]a lot of effort into my work
[01:21.67]When it comes to music
[01:23.33]I tend to be very meticulous
[01:26.57]and put a lot of effort into making music
[01:30.23]but he looked like he was playing
[01:32.57]He managed to do everything effortlessly
[01:34.17]and it was really surprising
[01:35.20]"Wow, this person is something else"
[01:37.87]I learned a lot from that
[01:39.73]and it inspired me to try
[01:43.27]and implement some of that
[01:45.47]in my work as well
[01:46.67]I don't know, it was just so fascinating
[01:48.63]The way he worked was very intriguing
[01:51.10]especially how effortlessly the top lines just flowed out
[01:53.63]as soon as he grabbed the microphone.
[01:56.63]It was truly amazing to witness
[01:58.27]and it made me think, "I need to work even harder"
[02:05.67]The song itself
[02:07.60]has an old-school feel, but also a strong R&B vibe
[02:13.10]Stray Kids has never tried this genre before
[02:18.20]and we've never done a song with this kind of emotional tone
[02:20.83]so adapting to that...
[02:23.57]I mean, the song is great, the track turned out really well
[02:25.67]and the members did an excellent job recording it
[02:29.07]But when I listened to it myself
[02:31.03]since we had never tried this style
[02:33.27]it felt a bit awkward
[02:35.93]Even recently
[02:37.50]while not often
[02:38.47]because I've listened to it so much
[02:39.57]but sometimes, when I listen
[02:41.20]it makes me realize that our members can really pull off this style too
[02:44.50]There's a part in the song where I sing "Ah I lose my breath"
[02:46.70]and during "breath"
[02:48.00]I sing with a shaky
[02:49.63]out of breath kind of feel
[02:53.47]That line captures everything about the song
[03:01.17]and in my opinion, is truly the ultimate highlight
[03:04.50]When I listen to the track
[03:06.50]there's this back-and-forth, almost like a tug-of-war feeling
[03:09.87]There was also an overwhelming feeling
[03:12.63]that led us to the theme "Lose My Breath"
[03:16.17]Because of that other person, "I'm truly so out of breath..."
[03:20.70]"it's suffocating"
[03:21.33]That's the kind of theme we went with
[03:24.97]It seems like a deeper love song
[03:27.03]Perhaps a more mature kind of love
[03:30.73]I mean, I don't know love
[03:32.47]I don't know
[03:33.23]"Even if I have to hold my breath, I want to meet you"
[03:35.83]"I love you"
[03:36.53]It's that kind of feeling
[03:37.50]"Even if it means abandoning myself"
[03:39.87]"I want to have you"
[03:41.23]"I want to win your love"
[03:42.60]It's that type of song
[03:44.97](When listening to the lyrics) With "I lose my breath when you're walking in"
[03:47.47]there's a tension
[03:49.63]a feeling of the heart fluttering
[03:52.17]and it's hard to focus
[03:55.23]It feels completely different
[03:57.67]The lyrics are all in English
[03:59.40]and although it's easy to listen to
[04:04.33]the song incorporates many interesting compositional elements
[04:07.47]and voice tones that none of us
[04:12.43]have ever used before
[04:14.40]I think "Lose My Breath"
[04:16.87]might really showcase a new side of our vocal styles
[04:23.80]When I first heard the song, I thought
[04:25.80]"this is going to be fun"
[04:27.40]and that "we could show something new with this"
[04:29.10]The song itself feels somehow moist
[04:31.93]In my opinion
[04:34.07]this song has old JYP-style elements
[04:38.33]At least, from listening to the track
[04:39.93]"Can I actually pull this off?"
[04:42.30]I thought that at first
[04:43.90]But the more I listened, the more natural it felt
[04:46.90]and I could even imagine how well certain members would fit
[04:51.73]particular parts
[04:54.07]Immediately, I felt a huge sense of responsibility
[04:56.57]because
[04:57.37]the voice in the demo
[04:59.10]was none other than Charlie Puth
[05:01.03]A voice I've grown up listening to
[05:03.93]It was surreal and gratifying
[05:05.67]to hear his voice in our demo
[05:08.47]and in the end
[05:10.23]"now's the time I really need to step up"
[05:14.57]I thought that a lot
[05:16.67]My first thought was, "can I handle this?"
[05:20.07]"This is going to be quite challenging"
[05:22.27]It felt fresh because it was very different from our usual style of music
[05:27.40]I was really worried
[05:29.13]but ultimately, showing these sides
[05:31.73]could make it
[05:33.10]more unique for STAY as well
[05:35.40]The song itself is so melodically nice
[05:38.67]that I think it could be widely loved
[05:41.90]if the choreography turns out well too
[05:48.40]The content is really great too
[05:49.60]The Little Mermaid
[05:51.60]Our concept was
[05:54.00]"The Little Mermaid"
[05:55.63]It has a mermaid story unique to SKZ
[05:59.83]The love could be so strong
[06:02.07]that it makes someone escape
[06:06.00]from the water
[06:08.10]We incorporated some fun stories
[06:10.93]about longing into this project
[06:13.30]We don't really mix with "water"
[06:15.27]It was always "fire" for us
[06:17.83]We were minimalistic this time and tried a lot of new things
[06:20.40]like dancing on water
[06:23.10]or dipping our faces in water
[06:25.67]I mean, dancing on water
[06:28.77]might sound common
[06:32.73]but the setting was beautifully set up
[06:39.57]that I think it'll turn out well
[06:41.17]The splashing added a nice touch too
[06:45.37]so I believe everything will fit well
[06:48.50]I fell over at that part
[06:50.90]I fell over, oh my...
[06:54.03]Anyway, despite falling
[06:55.50]the overall look
[06:57.57]was so coherent and I loved it
[07:00.93]Because it was in water
[07:03.33]I wasn't hurt or scarred or anything
[07:06.10]and I've practiced falling safely
[07:08.83]since I was young, so I was okay
[07:12.07]We had a submerged set
[07:14.17]where we danced
[07:15.50]with the water almost up to our knees
[07:20.50]While the group dance was a key point
[07:23.43]we had a lot of cinematic scenes
[07:25.77]tailored to individual performances too
[07:29.80]I also drove for the first time on camera
[07:36.03]I was supposed to keep a serious face while driving
[07:39.70]but it was so much fun that I couldn't help but laugh
[07:43.63]One scene with Felix and me in the rain
[07:47.83]looked really awesome for me
[07:50.03]I thought I looked great
[07:54.43]I think you'll be quite surprised
[07:57.43]when you see our performance
[07:59.27]Previously, we've
[08:01.73]really emphasized power, but this time
[08:06.43]we've toned it down significantly
[08:07.83]While it is a group dance
[08:10.70]it has a lot of rhythmic elements
[08:15.03]so I liked that
[08:16.97]I love the choreography for the hook
[08:20.30]It was the part I liked most when I saw the choreography submission
[08:25.77]We haven't had a lot of choreographies
[08:29.07]where we stop and hold certain movements
[08:31.43]so I think our fans will love it too
[08:33.87]I had my concerns
[08:36.50]because if the dance is too hard, it wouldn't blend well with the song
[08:39.80]but going with a formation- based approach
[08:42.23]didn't seem right either
[08:44.37]Looking at the performance as a whole
[08:47.27]it's essentially a loop of gentle and forceful moments
[08:51.03]And then it ends on a strong note
[08:52.47]We wanted to give that diversity
[08:55.63]and since we got submissions from many different choreographers
[08:57.50]I took all of them
[08:59.70]and reviewed each one
[09:01.10]and decided which parts to use from which
[09:05.50]The members would express their opinions
[09:08.70]and that's how we created the performance
[09:12.63]The choreography
[09:13.90]has subtle points
[09:15.63]that are both natural
[09:18.50]and smooth
[09:20.03]I guess we could call them safe
[09:23.20]By highlighting these points
[09:28.70]we thought the viewers would see the deeper parts of our message
[09:33.93]We've incorporated medium-tempo moves
[09:40.57]moves
[09:42.07]that we usually wouldn't do
[09:45.73]and
[09:47.10]I think that
[09:48.47]adds an exciting thrill
[09:50.73]to the performance
[10:09.73]Capturing the essence
[10:13.07]of movements such as
[10:14.57]"tick, tick, press, snap!" was challenging
[10:17.07]So we would split in half and watch each other dance
[10:21.93]For example, there's a move in the last chorus
[10:23.83]where you sharply hit
[10:26.23]your shoulders twice
[10:29.13]We aimed to make this movement
[10:31.57]elastic to match the beat
[10:33.67]and although it looks simple
[10:35.43]it's quite tricky to synchronize
[10:37.80]Some use their upper bodies to go this way
[10:40.83]others use isolation
[10:45.00]and because there are so many variations
[10:47.33]it took us a significant amount of time to get it right
[10:50.37]The members found that a bit hard
[10:53.13]but because it was another challenge
[10:55.80]we overcame it while having fun
[10:57.77]We've been practicing hard
[11:14.00]If we upload a dance challenge
[11:15.93]the hand movements
[11:18.53]especially the hands
[11:20.47]and feet
[11:23.00]should be parts to look out for
[11:25.50]as well as facial expressions
[11:26.97]It's always the facial expression,
[11:29.53]the hand gestures, and the feet
[11:33.03]that really explain, express this song's color
[11:38.80]For the beat
[11:41.40]use the entire beat and hit briefly
[11:47.33]We've really changed up
[11:50.70]the members' singing techniques
[11:54.87]and the direction of our recordings
[11:57.03]The theme revolves around breathing
[12:02.13]so we went JYP style, half air, half sound
[12:04.13]but with air at around 70 or 80 instead of the usual 50:50 ratio
[12:09.33]In the beginning
[12:12.07]where the instruments drop out and the track gets a bit quieter
[12:14.67]we blend in air to create a key mood-setting moment
[12:18.83]Then, as the music builds to a climax
[12:21.87]Lee Know sings on a strong note
[12:25.40]In our Stray Kids songs, whenever we hit high notes
[12:29.13]or when we sing, we sing in a piercing style
[12:33.30]If we sang high notes like that in this song
[12:36.50]it would break a lot of the emotion
[12:40.40]We have to sing very delicately
[12:42.10]and open up a lot of space within here
[12:44.83]so that it sounds not angular
[12:48.30]but more round, and filled
[12:50.43]Feel, intonation, everything's like that
[12:54.80]but we focused on vocalization the most
[12:57.97]and having to sing each and every word
[13:01.90]adjusting like that was the hardest part
[13:09.57]- Okay, let's go
[13:10.83]Okay
[13:16.67]Not bad?
[13:24.60]Okay, very good
[13:26.43]Sing as if you're out of breath
[13:32.03]The last two lines were half-falsetto!
[13:34.60]That was good
[13:35.10]It felt different, though
[13:36.17]Yeah, this feeling...
[13:36.77]You could do more, I think
[13:47.77]I was most surprised by Seungmin and Changbin
[13:52.90]Seungmin
[13:54.00]brought the song to life much better than I thought he would
[13:58.30]I feel like he's improved
[14:00.17]so much it's almost unrealistic
[14:06.10]Sometimes when I'm bored and he's humming
[14:09.47]practicing or he just released a cover
[14:12.50]I think, "he's improved a lot and he's still improving"
[14:17.73]and I think, "he recorded this song"
[14:20.03]"with a really strong leading voice, and he did well"
[14:26.13]The image of Changbin
[14:27.23]as a rapper is very strong, right?
[14:29.87]But in this song, he also sings
[14:33.00]When he sings, he has a very sharp voice
[14:36.30]which suits R&B or old hip hop songs
[14:40.90]but even in this kind of song
[14:45.03]I was surprised by how well his style
[14:47.33]could shine through and how well he sang
[14:51.37]Let's start with "'Cause" first
[14:52.97]Yes
[14:58.83]I think this is okay
[15:00.37]I think maybe just a little bit more
[15:01.87]Okay, I'll try that
[15:08.53]Yeah, this level of "stops" is good
[15:09.90]In terms of vocals, the members
[15:11.53]work really hard and are really good
[15:14.60]so I'm not very ambitious in that sense
[15:16.03]I'm not ambitious like that
[15:17.27]but if given the opportunity
[15:18.87]I don't want to hear people say
[15:21.27]"Oh, he's a rapper, so..."
[15:23.70]or "his vocals are just okay"
[15:24.90]I do not want to hear that
[15:28.23]I want to hear "he's a rapper, but he can sing too!"
[15:31.07]If you pay close attention
[15:33.23]to the emotion I put into each word
[15:37.07]you'll know "this guy worked hard"
[15:40.07]"he really put his effort into this"
[15:42.60]I think you'll be able to feel that
[15:44.00]Thank you for catching those details
[15:46.80]and listening attentively
[15:49.33]It's singing
[15:50.40]I kept thinking, "will I do well?"
[15:52.50]I don't have a lot of experience singing
[15:56.90]but I thought a lot about how to show
[16:00.97]my unique sides and skills
[16:02.70]"Do I have to sing in a husky voice?"
[16:05.80]I mostly sing with a low register, and also sing brightly in other times
[16:09.97]so I thought a lot about how
[16:12.83]I could find that midpoint
[16:14.77]While I sang, I felt
[16:17.63]"ah, this is my exact color!"
[16:22.40]That hit me for the first time in a while
[16:25.33]It was really difficult
[16:27.90]to sing this song
[16:28.90]I had to sing in an unfamiliar tone
[16:31.77]the middle of falsetto and chest voice
[16:35.03]and it was hard to vocalize like that
[16:38.10]So, recording was quite challenging
[16:42.67]but thanks to 3RACHA's direction, I managed to finish well
[16:46.17]It was probably the most
