"Local Colour" …………..

It is an old debate among readers of travel writing
whether it is more interesting to read about places you
have never seen, or to read what other people say
about places you already know. Thus one advantage
for those who read "Local Colour", a collection of travel
pieces about Canadian places, is that they can have it
both ways: everyone is bound to know at least some of
the sites described, but with most regions of Canada
covered in this anthology, including several remote
ones, no one is likely to have seen them all.
