It is argued in the passage that children's aspirins ----.
Aspirin used to be regarded as a safe cure for
numerous ills, and was widely used both in its
soluble and insoluble form. Now, however, it is not
so well thought of. It is useful for the relief of
headache or other pains and it will reduce a fever
for 2 or 3 hours and so make a patient feel more
comfortable, but except in very rare cases it will
cure nothing. Moreover, there have been some
very serious cases of poisoning as a result of
taking aspirin. This is why children's aspirins are
not recommended, for they are often nicely
flavoured, so the children are tempted to eat them
like sweets. For small children, suitably small
quantities of ordinary adult soluble aspirin should
be used after having checked the dose with the
doctor.
