Yet, for the sufferers of chronic lung diseases, such as asthma and bronchitis, colds can be deadly. For these people, the new drugs that are being developed could offer a lifeline. Antiviral drugs, which target the virus directly, are currently in development. These could kill up to half of the cold-producing viruses, greatly lowering the chance of infection.
