‘Crime and Punishment' is about ………
‘Crime and Punishment' is the first of Dostoevsky's five large works and it reveals the author's mastery of psychological observation and analysis and has its roots in the author's own experiences of life. The story concerns the life and evil doings of a
poor student, Raskolnikoff. Raskolnikoff thinks deeply about his own poverty and that of his mother and young sister and finally decides to murder an old woman money-lender. He creates a complicated mental plan to justify his crime to himself, but as in many of Dostoevsky's stories, the plan goes horribly wrong.
