Those who suffer from triskaidekaphobia are
guaranteed a day of terror whenever the thirteenth
of the month happens to fall on a Friday. A recent

admitted to feeling "uncomfortable" every Friday the
thirteenth, while 4 percent actually lived in dread of

There are about thirty known in Britain, among them
claustrophobia — a fear of confined -spaces;
arachnaphobia — a fear of spiders; and
hydrophobia — a fear of water. Although they are
common mental disorders that can affect anyone at
any time, phobias in their mildest form may cause
only anxiety-induced symptoms, such as
headaches, sweating, nausea or dizziness. At their
worst, they can take control of lives, strain
relationships and ruin careers.
